Chapter Eight

The Moms pass gains them 11 yards, earning them another first down. With that, the 3rd quarter ends.

The Moms offense begins the 4th quarter with possession of the ball, and a 1st and 10 on its own 29 yard line. They have only 29 yards to go for the touchdown. The Moms throw a pass on 1st and 10, but it’s incomplete.

On 2nd and 10, the Moms choose a running play, and gain 8 yards, bringing them to 3rd and 2. They follow this by running a toss sweep again, earning 7 yards and yet another 1st down.
From the 14 yard line, the Moms throw a pass to the wide receiver, and is completed for the touchdown!

Moms 13, Dads 0.

Moms bring out their extra point team for the kick, and it’s good for the extra point.

Moms 14, Dads 0.

As the game winds down, the Moms kick off to the Dads, who return the ball with a long run for a touchdown. Poor tackling by the Moms!

Moms 14, Dads 6.

Dads go for the extra point. It’s good.

Moms 14, Dads 7.

Since there is so little time left in the game (only 1 minute and 45 seconds), the Dads decide to try an onside kick, forcing the Moms to bring out their hands team.

Here’s what’s going on:

The kicking team may gain possession after the ball is kicked and travels at least 10 yards. On the onside kick, the kicker will try to kick the ball on the ground for 10 yards with the hopes of a teammate gaining possession.

Normally, the Dads would kick deep to the Moms, but because they have less than two minutes to tie the score, they’re going to try to get the ball back for themselves. The hands team (the one the Moms sent out), are expecting this kick, and is made up of the best “hands” on the Moms’ team. The Dads kicker attempts the onside kick, but the Moms are able recover the ball for themselves.
As the clock runs down, their offensive team comes to the field to snap the ball. After the snap, they take a knee. Basically, the quarterback kneels down, and waits for the last few seconds to run out on the clock, ending the game. This play is commonly know as victory.

Victory for the Moms!

Final Score: Moms 14, Dads 7!

Score Big!
